Dr. Cheung was born in Hong Kong and moved to Vancouver area when he was 15 years old. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree in 1990 from UBC (University of British Columbia)
Dr. Cheung has been a part of a Shaughnessy hospital TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) clinic externship in 1990. He has also been a involved in various study clubs, including: UBC Advanced Orthodontic Study Club 1991 to 1997, Dr. David Tai’s Prosthodontic Study Club, Dr. Nathalie Pauletto’s Periodontic Study Club, Dr. Alexa Herbertson’s Orthodontic (GIS) Study Club, Dr. Richmond Cheng’s Orthodontic Study Club, and Dr. Edmund Liem’s Orthodontic (Orthodocs) Study Club.

Over the years, Dr. Cheung has been involved in many organizations such as the Academy of General Dentistry, the Vancouver and District Dental Society, and the Chinese Canadian Dental Society (of which he served on the board of directors). He had been the President of the GIS Orthodontic Study Club. Outside of the dental environment, he served as the Board of Directors of his church and of the Holy Name Healthcare Outreach Society (an organization that provides medical, dental and optical care to the underprivileged living in towns of Mexico).
With his extensive knowledge from studies and his affinity to people, Dr. Cheung’s approach to his patients’ needs is personalized, sensitive and optimizing. This allows him to interact with his patients comfortably and deliver excellent care in a manner that is appealing to children and people of all ages, particularly those who have developed reservations towards receiving care in dentistry.
